Job Purpose:
Oversees, manages and develops the strategy and overall direction for the management of investment portfolio under policies and guidelines approved by the Investment Committee and Board of the Company.
Principal Accountabilities / Duties:
- Understanding the Company’s investment objectives, needs and regulatory environment.
- Drafting and proposing Investment Policy Statement (IPS) in-line with the stated objectives and regulations.
- Proposing asset allocation based on market circumstances and Company needs.
- Suggesting the appropriate performance benchmarks for the portfolio and for each asset class to the Management Team /Investment Committee for approval.
- Conducting analysis of External Investment Managers, and recommending selected product(s) and manager(s).
- Executing approved recommendations in accordance with IPS guidelines.
- Monitoring External Investment Manager(s) performance and compliance with guidelines and IPS.
- Monitoring risk management guidelines (Risk flag events, Stop loss limits) and recommending appropriate action to the Management team.
- Conducting analysis of custodian(s), and recommending selected custodian(s).
- Proposing the nature and timing of periodic re-balancing, including manager or product alternations when needed.
- Assistance in asset-liability matching in conjunction with actuarial team.
- Monthly performance and risk reporting to the Management team.
Desired Profile
- Masters in Business studies/operations research or CFA.
- Diploma/certification in any Finance/Investment areas.
- At least 8-10 years of relevant investment experience broadly defined and preferably at least 3 years of experience as a Chief Investment Officer or equivalent.
- Knowledge of global economies, capital markets, interest rates and currencies.
- Knowledge of, and/or experience with investment strategy and asset allocation decisions across all major asset classes. Strong quantitative and analytical skills across broad range of asset classes, including alteative investments.
- Ability to evaluate managers in the portfolio - reviewing and monitoring their investment strategies, philosophies and performance.
- Leadership skills that combine assertiveness, diplomacy, and collaboration. Capable of challenging ideas and generating genuine debate.
